2020

2020 saw the world being affected and restricted by the Global Covid-19 Pandemic and we were unable to hold our celebrations in June of that year.

We were however determined to ensure that the year did not pass without Butetown Community Centre honouring our wonderful Windrush Generation.

We started by commissioning Kyle Legall a local artist to put together an art piece reflective of the journey of many into the UK.

We unveiled this art piece in September 2020 as soon as the restrictions were lifted.

What do you think of this wonderful art piece?

Our 2020 celebration could not have happened had it not been for the wonderful A Team of volunteers

Danielle Johnson, Maxine Ahmun,  Suzette Aske and Paula Johnson who did a mini marathon at least helping serve the meal to our guests.

We were joined by the Army, the Navy and the Royal Airforce who paid tribute to our Windrush Generation and we are grateful that we can always count on our amazing Military personnel who never fail to support us in celebrating our Windrush Generation.

We were entertained by our very own Windrush Baby Aleighcia Scott who wowed us with an amazing performance.

Our guests enjoyed themselves being feed and entertained and of course being reminded that we appreciate then and will forever cherish their sacrifice for the UK.
